I was commissioned by the Paraorchestra to design print and web assets for ‘SYMBIOSIS’ - a collaborative concert at the Bristol Beacon as part of the BBC Proms, bringing together the folkloric sound and ethereal vocals of The Breath, with the rich, textural, sonic universe of Paraorchestra.

The brief I received was very good, and the team at Paraorchestra were really supportive and responsive throughout. I’ve always found mutualism in the natural world fascinating, so I came up with a couple of ideas quite quickly, eventually settling on variations of the poster shown here - what you can see is a false-coloured scanned electron micrograph (SEM) of a honeybee’s leg, the dense coating of hairs having trapped pollen grains, which are then brushed off onto other stigma, pollinating the flowers the bee visits.

Otherworldly micro macro mutualism with a supercharged twist.
